The Most Reliable Cars on a Budget

The good news is that there are now a lot of different cars around which offer good value for money as well as being reliable. If you want a car which won’t let you down and are on a budget here are a few options to choose from.

Ford Fiesta

There are some very good reasons why the Fiesta has sold so consistently well over the last few decades. It is a good value car which doesn’t cost much to run, although in terms of insurance it isn’t among the very cheapest around. However, one of the things which many drivers love about it is the reliability it offers. There are people who have always driven a Ford Fiesta and will carry on doing so because this model simply never gives them any problems. With so many different models on offer from the various generations produced there is a good deal of choice in the second hand Fiesta market.  If you want to buy one as brand new you will find that they are generally more expensive than other compact cars these days.

Toyota Yaris

Compared to the Ford Fiesta, the Yaris is a relative newcomer to the budget car market. Having said that, there are enough of them on the UK’s roads to ensure that finding a second hand one to buy is easy. Even as new they offer a relatively low price, making this a good choice for anyone without much money to splash out but who would prefer a brand new car. This is a genuine city car, which means that it is compact, cheap to run and easy to drive. The Toyota Yaris is often viewed as being the ideal choice for a first time buyer but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t consider it in other situations. For instance, if you want a good value vehicle for commuting to work then this is a really good choice.

Honda Jazz

This car was voted as the most reliable cheap used car in the UK a few years back. Certainly, Honda is a car manufacturer with a strong reputation for offering vehicles which don’t cause their owners many problems. The Jazz isn’t quite as cheap to run as the budget cars we just looked at, though. In terms of insurance, it is also rated significantly higher than the Yaris and the Fiesta, while it isn’t really designed to be so highly fuel efficient either. Looks wise, you might not be overly tempted by older models of this car, but if you place reliability and low purchase price over this and the other issues covered then the Jazz is definitely one to take a look at.

Volkswagen Golf

The Golf is one of those cars which have evolved over the years but whose earlier models are still getting driven around the county. If you think about it, the number of old Golfs you can see on the road is a great indicator of their staying power and reliability. You will want to do some research to make sure that you find the right model in terms of price, performance and running costs. Generally speaking they are low maintenance cars that can run for year after year without causing any hassle. The second hand car market in the UK is filled with different VW Golf models, so take your time and find the one which is right for you. Trying to find the right balance between a cheap model and one which still has plenty of life in it should be one of your main concerns when you look for a used Golf for sale.

Over here the Honda Jazz is called the Honda Fit and is still pretty new on our market. I agree that it’s not as pretty in the older years but my husband and I have looked at a ton of cars lately and decided if you’re looking for a car with pretty good gas mileage but want a little more room the Honda Fit is a really good option.
